WEEK 7: 10/2 - 10/5
Tues. (Day 28)
Prezi - You should already have signed up for your educational account, and have verified it by clicking in the email they sent to your LMS email account.
Today you will begin searching for text and a Youtube video for your theme: a character trait or quality such as: encouragement, perseverance, kindness, courage, generosity...). We will watch the first tutorial video for Prezi (on the "Learn" tab on the website). Then you will start adding your text (At least 3 famous quotes and 3 verses). Add your Youtube video today or at home, because it will be blocked on Wednesday.

Vacation Google Presentation assignment due. This assignment date has been changed to next Wednesday. Many students did not follow the directions, so I explained it better, created a more detailed assignment sheet (See assignments link.)
Prezi - Mr. Silva tried to have them work on it, but it would not allow editing because Flash needed updated.
Thurs. (Day 30)
I explained the Presentation assignment better and had students write 3 possible questions to use as topics for the assignment. They were to give me those 3 questions on their way out so I could approve. (Not all students did.)
Prezi - We worked on adding text in the library on those computers. (However, Google Apps wouldn't work on all computers.)
Fri. (Day 31)
I showed an example of what I wanted in a Presentation again and handed back students' 3 questions w/ approved topic questions. Not all had handed them in. There were about 4 who had not gotten theirs approved. They were to stay after class to get that done. Not all of those did.
Prezi - We worked in the pc lab 116, where Flash had been updated and Google Chrome had been installed so we could edit in Google Docs as well. Unfortunately, Google Docs would not allow some students to see that their text was selected when clicking and dragging, so not all students could copy/paste their quotes into Prezi. I demonstrated how to change background and format text boxes in Prezi.

Google Presentation - (a limited version of PPT) Using the handout, try to create a Google Presentation for your vacation page.
The topic/title should be in the form of a question about some part of your vacation. Look at my example on my wiki. Examples of topics I could use for my trip to Dewey Beach:

Copy/paste the urls of any resources on your last slide.

Get into Google Docs and do the same type of formatting. (There is no hanging indent.)
Watch Mrs. Garton create a document, "Topics", and share it with each of you, making it so you cannot edit it. Watch as she can edit it right and you can see the changes being made on your copy in real time.
Download that document and rename it with your name. Ex" Topics Jonathan M.
Upload that file to your Google Docs and share it w/ Mrs. Garton.
Tomorrow, you will answer the questions on that document.
Complete the brainstorming on the shared document, "Topics Your Name". Write at least 5 things under each question.
If you finish, Google websites that relate to those topics and list them under each.

Example of what a Voki avatar is. Hand out Voki usernames. The passwords are the same as your Google password.
Create a voki with a greeting to add to your Homepage. (Ex: "Hi, I'm ---. Welcome to my wiki!") Click HERE to log in to Voki for the directions to make your voki avatar for your home page. Sign in with your Voki username and your LMS Google Apps password. (ID + lms) Follow the instruction sheet handed out last Thursday. You will need to submit your wiki for approval by Thursday so I can approve it before class. Then you will be able to upload it in class Thursday.

Click HERE to log in to Voki for the directions to make your voki avatar for your home page. Sign in with your Voki username and your LMS Google Apps password.
